Our Gemcal Garage Equipment Engineers have installed a new mobile brake tester at Biffa Waste, in Gloucester.

We are pleased to confirm that we have completed a Class 7 MOT Bay installation at MOT Bro’s, an Autocentre in Woking, Surrey.

We were sub-contracted to install MOT equipment at the workshop in preparation for the MOT rush when lockdown is lifted in March 2021.

Our team organised a pit to be dug along with the necessary in-ground wiring. During the course of the installation day, our trained BM engineers installed the equipment, calibrated and tested the full functionality. Thereafter full training was provided to their team so they can now effectively service their fleet of over 20 Heavy Goods Vehicles. This setup is the latest in-ground brake tester fully compliant with the latest DVSA regulations and has a suite of accessories and software including a wireless tablet for easy operation whilst in the vehicle.

The power is connected to the control unit, PC station with the Flex Check software loaded up which is loaded up which is connected to the brake tester and the tablet conögured for remote testing. To manage the size and weight of some of the vehicles in the S.E Davis fleet GEMCAL have arranged a customised BM 20200 to the exact client needs. This particular model has upgrade heavy duty gear boxes and motors. The rollers and the test bed have been extended giving an extra meter clearance to accomodate the widest of S E Davis plant machinery. The ramps have also been widened and extra length added for ease of use. We provide a full 360 degree BM Brake Tester service both for domestic and domestic and commercial models.

When carrying out the active test we train the workshop engineers on the whole system covering any questions that may arise, best practice and procedure making sure everyone is conödent in the operation of the new kit. The unit, when set up, requires just 3 and a half meters total length to deploy the on / off ramps and 4 and a half meter clearance in width. It can also be set up on a range of surfaces – tarmac, concrete or uneven surfaces like gravel sand dirt or even snow

Providing more accessibility than the in-ground brake tester and without the need for civil work to dig a pit.

The brake tester is a BM 4010 Inground Model. It is sturdy and reliable piece of equipment. The BM 4010 can manage an Axle weight of up to 3½ tons making it ideal for any light vehicle test lane.

The BM 4010 come with BM’s Flexcheck software allowing automatic single person testing. Flexcheck also produces a database refrence and full test result printouts. Once installed all the equipment is double checked by the engineers, should any problems arise GEMCAL are on hand to provide swift assistance to get the bay up and running again as soon as possible.

All the equipment we source and install comes with full DVSA approval. The lift is a European Scissor Lift, Electro Hydraulic model, built in Play Detectors and full safety features, including pressure safety valves and mechanical locking system. This is a very popular lift for MOT and ATL bay install installations, hard wearing and reliable with an additional 2 ton manual jacking beam, the lift also comes with radius plates built into the runners next to the play detectors. Other features include a wired remote control which doubles as a ashlight for checking the underside of the vehicle.
